The origin of the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group (STVSG) can be traced to early 2010, when a small group of veterans, who worked at Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY, joined together to financially assist veterans in their local community. They began to meet with numerous local veteran service organizations to educate themselves on the needs of local veterans and the services available to veterans. After a couple of years, they saw the need for an organization that could collaborate with other service organizations, including the Veterans Administration (VA), to address the unmet educational and financial needs of local veterans. On August 10, 2011, STVSG was incorporated in New York State and received its IRS tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) public charity.

 

Today STVSG works with 70+ affiliated organizations to provide a broad range of services and financial assistance to veterans, service members and their families in the fourteen counties that they serve.
