Spring Has Sprung at Your Binghamton Vet Center!

Spring has sprung and so have a bunch of new groups, classes and activities at your Binghamton Vet Center located in the heart of beautiful downtown Binghamton.

Call us, (607)722-2393, or drop in and say “Howdy” and get further details.  There a lot of things afoot this spring for Veterans.

VeteRUN kicks off this Wednesday 4/12 at 3pm as we meet up with other Veterans from Clearpath to get outside and run the Riverwalk down to Cheri A Lindsey Park and back roughly 2 miles. The routes will change and distances will gradually get longer. You can chose to run or walk the whole distance or just some of it. This is a great chance to meet other Veterans and staff of the Vet Center and Clearpath. Drop in!

Veteran Art Therapy Project
We are very excited to announce our upcoming Veteran Art Therapy Project. The group will be run by Professor Erik Lasky of Broome College. The participants will take a look at artist and art pieces that have taken on topics related to Veterans throughout History, and create a painting at the end though and artistic process assisted by the instructor and Vet Center Staff.   Please give Jason Davis a call for more information (607)722-2393 or jason.davis3@va.gov. Whole Health Class
Also we have a great Whole Health Class we are taking registrations for currently. This class is 9 weeks and covers wellness on all levels to include nutrition, exercise, social, surroundings etc. Spring is a great time to make a changes to better your physical and mental state to enjoy the future. This class has gotten rave reviews from past participants. Garden Club
The Garden Club with be starting up very soon.  This year we are teaming up with Clearpath to run 4 garden beds on Pine St (Short stroll from the Vet Center). We will meet the beginning of May to prepare our Gardens for planting. This group is a “come when you can” group. The crops this year will be used for Whole Health and a possible upcoming cooking class. Talk to a Lawyer Series

On 4/19/2017 from 10-12pm James Mack, Esq. will be offering 30minute free consultations to matters reacted to Family Law, Divorce, Grandparents rights.

Anger Management Group
Learn to manage anger effectively, stop violence or the threat of violence. Develop self-control over thoughts and actions and become more mindful of what you say and do when you get angry. Receive support from others.

Second Half of Life
Have you ever asked yourself the following questions? What is my next step?  What is my purpose now? How can I keep my golden years shiny and bright.  What is there to look forward to now?  Intrigued?  Sign up for the Second Half of Life Group at the Binghamton Vet Center. It runs four weeks, each session is one hour in length, there is no age limit (young or old), and IT WILL BE FUN! (Dates and Times will be established and based off the availability of those registered.)

Mobile Food Pantry
We are currently working with community partners to get a mobile food pantry brought into the area on a monthly or bi monthly basis (depending on interest). If you would benefit and utilize a mobile food pantry please contact Jason Davis (607)722-2393. We are trying to get an idea of how many Veterans/families would use this service.

Clear Path Mobile canteen and Peer Bowling Night
On April 20th from 10am-2pm there will be a Mobile Canteen at American Legion Post 80 located at 76 Main St in Binghamton. Free Lunch, coffee and beverages. Contact Veneia at (413)464-3407.

Support Our Veterans Town Hall Meeting – 6/3/2017 (9am-1pm)(Sponsored by the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group)

On June 3rdfrom 9am-1pm at the American Legion Post 1645 177 Robinson St, Binghamton NY, come out and to the 2nd “Support the Veterans” Town Hall Meeting to show your support & to listen to local Veterans speak about what it’s like to go to war & serve our country overseas. These veterans have experienced some of the most difficult & challenging situations during their service. Please consider taking time to show these Veterans that our community is here for them & we support them.
